14 FAKTS INTERVIEW WITH

QUATRI

Q: Introduce yourself then describe yourself in one word.

Hey, my name is Ahmad Qatramiz. I am a French/Syrian producer and DJ, currently based in Paris. Music is my passion, and I have a big love for both organic sounding productions and analogue very electronic sounding ones, all gathered by melodies and dreaminess. Ah, the one word would be : dreamer.

Q: Club or Festival and why?

Depends honestly! But mostly festival. It’s bigger, wider, you’re more on your own and can live your musical trip free of crowd. It’s not as hot as in the club, and often there’s some nature around, which is always nice to observe.

Q: Analog or Digital and why?

Both! I think we advanced really far in technology and making use of digital is a really nice way of creating new atmospheres and flexibility. But too much is never good, so I’d say the balance between both digital and analogue is the best. I love analogue, I tend to like it more as it’s way more interesting and experimental. I think if I look at it from another perspective, both would be equally important and having the capacity to balance both in a nice way, would make you an excellent producer.

Q: Favorite Plug in and why does it stand out from the rest?

Burning Man has been hands down the best place I've ever been to, in terms of music, landscapes, visuals, crowd. But I don't think you can consider it as a venue and even less a club haha. I yet have a lot to discover and I am hoping to travel and attend multiple events in different clubs and venues. The clubs that stand out to me for now were Stereo Montreal for it's incredible soundsystem, and The Garten in Beirut for it's sick visuals and placement - sunsets there are pretty nice.

Q: What was the driving force that got you into DJing/Producing and when?

Curiosity and being sensitive to music. I used to listen to the radio and remember being very curious on how the music broadcasted was made. I would ask my Dad how these electronic music tracks were made, he never had a real answer haha so one day I decided to do some research and discover it alone. And that’s how it all started. My family was never into music, I had to dive in the adventure by myself.

Q: If you were to have a superpower, what would it be and why?

Ah I think flying would be my choice. I want to explore a lot in this world, travel, go to cities and discover people and cultures. Flying would be the easiest way to do so. Plus, the view must be amazing up there in the clouds haha.

Q: Favorite day of the week?

Sunday - chill & production day.

Q: Favorite sport and why?

Football. I love this sport, tactical, beautiful to watch. Been playing and watching football since I was a little kid.

Q: Recommend a Hidden Gem in your Home country

Qasyoun! It’s a little mountain that has a view on all Damascus. I’ve been there maybe just once, but I know it would be an insane place for a rave. The view is beautiful, especially in the night.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most of your followers don’t know

I am in 2nd year of dental studies and hoping to be a good dentist in the coming years. I want to deliver medicine for teeth and for ears!

Q: Last but not least, do you have any question for us?
Marc Depulse: Do you want to drink a beer with me when I´m back in Beirut? :)

Quatri: What are your plans in the coming years? What will Toka Music be aiming to achieve ? I like the name.

Toka: First of all thank you! We loved your Living Room Sessions set back in Lebanon at Frozen Cherry. We are currently aiming on launching our blog very soon and expanding our radio show's reach by the end of this year, as for 2019 there's a lot being planned. More to be announced soon :)
