Madrid-born producer BizZa hits BotaniQ for the first time with his ‘Origins Of Vibe’ EP, delivering a set of playful tracks built to move dancefloors. Following multiple releases on Dennis Cruz’s previous imprint MÜSE, here he steps into the spotlight with a confident debut on his latest label project that blends deep grooves, smooth vocals, and rich energy.

Now based in Barcelona, Sergio Bizarro, aka BizZa, has released music via labels including Hottrax, elrow Music, Deeperfect, and Moan, among others, earning support from leading names such as Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati, Marco Carola, Luciano, PAWSA and Hot Since 82. Making appearances at venues from Fabrik Madrid to Ecuador’s Lost Beach Club, the rising Spaniard continues to refine his sound while also running his Ohana Music Label and Ohana House Parties brand, and his debut on BotaniQ brings a fresh dose of groove-driven club music with the forward-thinking touches that have come to define the label’s early output.

Q: Please introduce yourself

My name is BizZa! (Sergio Bizarro). I am a Spanish DJ and producer born in Madrid, but I grew up in Burguillos del Cerro, a small town in the province of Badajoz. I am currently 32 years old, and about a year ago I moved to Barcelona in pursuit of my dream of making a living from music.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

I would love to have coffee with Ricardo Villalobos because, apart from being a leading figure in global electronic music, I think it would be great fun to hear his stories from around the world over so many years.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

The ability to teleport, to avoid so many hours of flying when I travel to play in other countries, ha ha ha.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

I would choose the soundtrack for the movie of my own life, because I'm already learning how to do it every day of my life, spending so many hours in the studio.

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

Without a doubt, house music, because it's the genre I like the most and the one I identify with the most.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

I've been in the electronic music industry for 15 years, and it was never easy because I come from a humble family. Today, what has brought me here is believing in my music, working humbly, and persevering without a doubt, despite the “no's” that come my way. You have to find a way to turn them into “yes's.”

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?

Above all, be very patient, do what you love above all else, and never give up, even if you get told no.

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

I remember a set I did for Río Electronic in La Plata, Argentina. First of all, it was the first time I had DJed for about 3-4,000 people in a country other than my own. Secondly, I love Argentina and its people. And thirdly, it was a brand I really wanted to debut with, practically a dream come true.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

My musical style has evolved from minimal to house, mainly because I think I like dance music much more and I feel more comfortable with house; it's a much more fun sound than minimal.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

I don't think I would ever do another genre, but I really like R&B, and I would choose it because I've been listening to it for as long as I can remember.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

One was Sky And Sand by Paul Kalkbrenner, because I saw his film and it touched me deeply.

Another was Blody Cash by Marco Carola, which has been one of my favorite tracks since I started listening to electronic music.

And another was Jamie Jones' Remix - Hungry for the Power, because Jamie is one of my biggest influences.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

A beach near Esvedra in Ibiza—I can't remember what it's called now, but when the sun goes down, it's a magical place full of energy.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

Next up is Origins Of Vibe EP on BotaniQ, and I also have Luciano's Machaca la Membrana confirmed, Franky Rizardo's LTF Records, a remix for my friends Los Suruba on Suruba Records, a remix on Moan, and two releases with my crew Magnetic People.

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

In the studio, I'm a very organized and meticulous person with equalization frequency numbers haha, I always have to set them exactly, I can't stand decimals hahahaha.
