14 FAKTS INTERVIEW WITHBRUGIO

06/11/2025

Brugio has been in the scene for over a decade, mixing up new school house and tech with the hip-hop and breakbeat influences he grew up with. The result is a direct, high-impact sound that never fails to cut through the noise and garner support from some of the most influential artists in the scene, including Claptone and ACRAZE. Fresh off appearances for Junior Sanchez’s Brobot Records and Detlef’s Issues, Brugio now joins the Trick fold with a monster debut.

“The idea behind this EP came from my fascination with deep, groovy basslines. I wanted to craft two tracks where the low end takes the lead, blending energetic bass grooves with breakbeat-influenced drums to create something raw and dynamic.” – Brugio.

Opener 'SOS' hits hard with taut, reverberating synths and thudding kicks. Smart spoken word passages tell of a cosmic odyssey, while the main vocals bring classic big-room hip-hop swagger to make for a perfectly assembled, crowd-pleaser. 'Join Me' follows suit: the drums are just as big, steel-plated and mean, this time with thunderous future bass and atmospheric spoken words that burst out of the mix and send the energy sky-high.

Q: Please introduce yourself

Hi! My name is Alberto Brugioni, Brugio in music, and I’m a Tech house/Minimal DJ and producer from Italy.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

David Guetta. I got into electronic music mainly thanks to him and I would love to hear his stories.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

I’d love to be able to teleport myself everywhere. I dream of playing my music around the world and this power would save me a lot of time, which I think is the most valuable thing we have.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

I think any one of a Quentin Tarantino’s movies, I love everything about his movies.

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

I would probably say my family first. I grew up surrounded by music, no one does it for a living, but everyone loves it.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

I started DJing at home when I was 14, and after a few months I began organizing parties to play with friends. From there came my first gigs in clubs, which eventually led to my first residency. I’ve been playing in clubs across my city, region, and beyond for over 12 years now. Eventually, I was able to create something of my own with a group of friends, and “Oculto Society” was born: a party where we can truly express ourselves and where everyone feels welcome.

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?

There’s time, if you love it, just do it, you’ll get better everyday. Put all your passion into it and don’t care about what other people think, it’s your life, believe in yourself!

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

I have to say it’s probably this Halloween, we set up a “Boiler room” party as Oculto and the vibes, people, energy… everything was crazy. One for the books for sure. It took place in a club in my town, Modena. I grew up in these clubs and never felt something like this, everything was perfectly set up, and the people made it unforgettable.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

I started producing with a more minimal and Latin vibe. After years of working on project after project, I think I’ve finally found my way to express myself through music, a blend of genres that reflect who I am and come together in my productions.

There’s still so much more to come, and a lot to learn. I can’t wait to see how I’ll keep evolving and getting better!

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

It would be a tough clash between funky and hip hop, I love both but I’d probably say funky.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

1- Rock that body by Black Eyed Peas, was one of the first song that got me fascinated.

2- Far L’amore by Bob Sinclar and Raffaella Carrà, was a must at the time for me.

3- And last but not least I’d have to say DFCW by SOSA, this track really got me into the more underground club music and scene.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

There are a lot of wonderful and desirable places, I think for its uniqueness and particularity, I would say one of the marble quarries in Tuscany.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

My "SOS" EP will be out on Trick Label this Friday, November 7th — my most anticipated and biggest release yet! I’ll probably release one or two more tracks before the end of the year. Right now, I’m also very focused on Oculto and our upcoming dates. I’ve got a lot of new music ready for you, don’t worry!

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

I’d have to say that the most funny thing for those who don’t know me is that I’m an IT Consultant and also an IT Coach/Teacher. Living two lives!
