For his third release on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax imprint, Colombian DJ/producer Ciclo returns with ‘No Ma Mood’, a two-track package that reflects a more instinctive approach to his music. The Medellín-based artist has been a consistent presence in Jones’ sets since 2018, with productions that combine weighty low-end, sharp percussion, and rhythmic influences drawn from house, hip hop, and trap. That relationship continues into a significant period, with his latest release on Hottrax landing ahead of his Paradise debut at UNVRS in Ibiza; built around a simple creative idea: bringing together the elements he loves without following a formula, and letting both tracks develop from that instinct.

Q: Please introduce yourself

Hi, I’m Juan, better known as CICLO, a producer and DJ from Medellín, Colombia. I’ve been a music lover my whole life and have been making music for over 20 years. My sound is influenced by hip hop and the electronic beats of the early 2000s, influences that still shape my music today.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

I would love to have a coffee with Carl Cox. I feel like there would be so many things to listen to and so many stories to hear from the king himself. I think I would just say to him: “Master, please share anything you want with me. I’ll just listen and learn from you.” I have so much respect for Carl Cox and everything he represents in electronic music. 

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

If I could have a superpower, it would be teleportation. Perfect superpower for me - best way to stay at shows, the studio and at home without any problem. Always on time!

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

EMINEM - 8 mile. I love the vibe, freestyles, art, rap battles. So sick! 

Q: Who influenced you the most in your music career and why?

Daft Punk for sure! Their electronic sounds, melodies, their way to use classic samples - they touch the creative part of my brain for sure!  

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

I’ve only achieved 10% of what I want to achieve in the industry, but I am doing super good. Making hits for great labels, having discipline in the studio, finding myself and my own sound more and more every day! I think I am here doing cool things for only one reason - "I love music more than all other things in my life."

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?

Create and work on your own sound from the start. Believe in your way to create, communicate your music! And don't do drugs.

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

Roger Sanchez's “Release Yourself” tour in 2010. Cali, Medellin, Bogotá , 3 city's here in Colombia and I was opening all the shows! Best nights of my life - the energy and the experience show me how much I can do if I work hard!

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

100% , working all the days in the studio on my own sound, listen some styles and "tendencies" but only to know and listen, then I add some of my touch, my bass lines make my magic samplings and that's all.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

Hip Hop / Trap - I really love the beats, the bass and the vibe of the music.

1- Daft Punk - Around the world.

2- Fish Go Deep & Tracey K -  The Cure and The Cause.

3- Robert Miles - Children. 

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

Comuna 13 in Medellín, Colombia. Best place to do it! Great location and nice people. It was part of some very dark, violent times in Medellin, but now is just love and every body is welcome.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

On September 18th, my “NO MA MOOD EP” comes out on Hottrax, then on 30 September - I start my 2026 Europe tour.  It starts with a very special show, a very special one… my debut at UNVRS Ibiza for Paradise with Jamie Jones. I will be playing along side Jamie Jones, Joss Dean, Loco Dice and many more! Tour will be announced soon!

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

I’m in the studio just making music all the time. In my studio I have an external tv - I put Marco Carola sets on and I just imagine he is playing the tune I am working on!
