How would you describe yourself in one word:Enthusiastic

What was the driving force that got you into Music Production and when?

Uniqueness. To be able to do what I was listening to at the time going out clubbing, that changed my life forever. This happened in 1997. But it wasn't just aboutmaking the music, there was an attention towards the elements, the details andcharacteristics of instruments and software that noticeably pulled me in.

Q: Analog or Digital? And why?

Both have magic. Balance is the best solution. Analog can be a pain. Lots of time canbe wasted when you don't have it as much as lots of time can be gained throughdigital when you need it, and vice-versa. Though, there's nothing like the punchanalog gives you, different characteristics and timbre are more appealing to me inanalogue but I've been having incredible experiences through digital lately.

Q: What's your favorite venue and why does it stand out from the rest?

I'd say D-Edge is still my favorite. Smaller, intimate, organized, democratic & thewarmest sound system. It can get dirty sticky floors from now and then. Wellstructured, I miss it.

Q: If you were to have a superpower, what would it be and why?

Invisibility for a limited time only. One could fix a country in a few weeks.

Q: If you had to play 1 more track at your favorite club, what track would it be and why?

In a gig as DNYO, I'd probably play "Solid Sessions - Janeiro (James Holden Remix)"but as Danny Oliveira, one more tune would be "Spacefrog - Maschinenwelt"

Q: What makes a DJ set standout from the rest?

Lots of things really. The ability to read the scenario given to you at that moment isa big one. Sometimes you're in a situation that you cannot fully comprehend. Yougot everything ready but you're not seeing the full picture. It's a lot easier when thecrowd goes to see you, because of your sound and expects you to just be yourself, but expectation can be tricky. I had a gig once, people came out to see DNYO forthe first time, and if I hadn't changed from playing authoral music only to adding afew more tracks from other artists/styles, I would've lost the crowd very early inmy set.

Q: 1 person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

Jim Carrey

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score from the past, what movie would you choose and why?

I would have to pick a movie that I love, but not so much the score itself, and thatwould be Equilibrium (2002). The film is something of blends from’ The Matrix’ anda few really good futuristic dystopias. When you look at the cast (Christian Bale,Emily Watson), the cinematography, in terms of production value, everythingsurpasses the score, in my opinion at least. It's a good score, but it could have madethe film much stronger and way more iconic for it's genre. We are living in timessimilar to the story, so I highly recommend watching it.

Q: Recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would fit a perfect rave?

In the state of Rio de Janeiro, there's a town called ‘Teresopolis’. Up in themountains. 3 thousand feet above sea level. Looks like a scene from Narnia.

Q: What are 3 tracks that got you into electronic music?

Quench - Dreams

X-Cabs - Neuro

Y-Traxx - Mystery Land

Q: Tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for this year.

Can't say much about them yet. The ones I can though, are - My third EP onJuicebox Music comes out this year as well. It's a 3 tracker and those tunes arelouder. Andy Arias and I have a collaboration and I have some new originals afterthat all in July & August on my label - Konstrukt. I've also been producing an albumfor the past few months, a beautiful experience. It’s turning out to be quitesomething. Won't go further than that. Then there's the new talk show / podcast(Brazilian Portuguese only) that I'm hosting with some of my best friends. Weekly, for now. We intend to become memes whilst telling the truth, nothing but thetruth, so help us God and the Universe.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners don't know.

I have a thing for ice cream, jelly and chocolate cake. Thing is, who doesn't right? But my thing is, I'm so obsessed with them and have spent quite the journey overthe years making my own blends and experiences. I'd like to grow old and have anice cream shop one day, sell my jelly and my cakes on the side. Host some DJs in theshop. Best ice cream experience in the industry.
