After a year that’s seen his music ignite dancefloors from Ibiza to Miami, Switzerland-based talent Emery Bex keeps things moving with ‘Body Tension’ - a sleek two-tracker that marks his solo debut on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax. Building on ‘promising newcomer’ tips, Emery has spent the past two years fine-tuning a sound that blends modern minimalism with infectious, groove-led energy - with releases on labels like Mood Child, LTF Records, and Whippin Records, and his viral remix of Kiko Navarro’s ‘Soñando Contigo’ becoming a summer staple. Following a standout performance at UNVRS in Ibiza for Paradise, Emery now returns with a release that channels the momentum and confidence of a defining year.
Leading with ‘Body Tension’, the title track builds pressure and release through tightly wound percussion, flickering textures, and hypnotic low-end movement, a masterclass in understated energy. ‘Got 2 Luv’ follows with a deeper edge, lacing rhythmic vocal hooks over rolling drums and gliding basslines, serving up an abundance of motion and dancefloor movement.
Q: Please introduce yourself
Hi, my name is Emery Bex and I am a DJ/Producer from Switzerland.
Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?
Jamie Jones – because he’s my idol in every aspect when it comes to being an artist, and I know I could learn a lot from him.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I would love to restore the old dynamic of the music industry, where good music mattered more than social media or the artist’s appearance. Music should speak for itself — not for how many followers someone has or how they look.
Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?
I’d choose a movie that mixes nightlife, freedom, and energy — something like The Matrix or even a new dance-focused film. House music brings movement and emotion, and I’d love to express that through a film score.
Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?
Definitely my dad. I grew up in a musical family where he played his saz/baglama every Sunday and sang his own songs. He was my biggest influence from an early age. When it comes to electronic music, I’d say the French house pioneers — and from the new generation, definitely Jamie Jones.
Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?
My journey started around 2007. I began playing in my hometown, then quickly performed in clubs all across Switzerland before reaching a point where my focus shifted from music to my professional career. During that time, something was missing. Even though I stayed connected to the electronic music scene, I realized I needed to give music a full chance. So I quit my job and started producing.
Less than two years later, I signed my tracks to major record labels and even played for Jamie’s Paradise at UNVRS. I’m really grateful and blessed for all these opportunities.
Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?
Turn off the noise and don’t look too much at what others do.
Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?
I once played a back-to-back set with one of my best friends, Denny, on a Thursday night at Nordstern. What was supposed to be an easy student night in Basel turned into one of the best nights I’ve ever had. The club planned to close at 2 a.m. — the party didn’t stop until 5 a.m.
Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?
To be honest, not that much. Recently, I reorganized my entire music library, and I still enjoy most of the tracks I bought years ago.
Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?
Anatolian rock — because it’s driven by groovy basslines and powerful storytelling.
Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?
1- Fred Falke & Alan Braxe – Intro
2- Daft Punk – One More Time
3- Cassius – Feeling For You
It was the day I discovered the DJ booth at our local youth center where I grew up. I asked the leader what it was all about, and these were the first records he showed me. I instantly fell in love with every single one of them.
Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?
There used to be a club called Rohstofflager in Zurich. It had everything you need for a perfect rave. Since there isn’t really a warehouse-style club like that anymore, I can’t imagine a better venue.
Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?
Since the year is coming to an end, I can share that I’ll close it with a solo release on Hottrax and a remix for Under No Illusion’s 300th release, both dropping this month.
Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?
I have a Master of Science degree in Banking & Finance.
