14 FAKTS INTERVIEW WITHKRESPO

02/10/2025

Process Records lines up a powerhouse collaboration between Disco Dom, the glitter-clad alter ego of French house mainstay Dombresky, and Chilean DJ/producer KRESPO. The result is ‘The Apex (PRX006)’, a peak-time anthem brimming with disco-inspired flair and modern dancefloor energy.

For ‘The Apex (PRX006)’, Disco Dom joins forces with KRESPO, a fast-rising force in the global tech house scene. With releases on labels like Issues and Maerial Series, as well as shows across South America and Europe at institutions such as Pacha Barcelona and Eden Ibiza, KRESPO has earned support from Mau P, Paco Osuna, Cloonee, and more.

“This track was heavily inspired by disco records, and we tried to make it for that peak moment of euphoria at a festival with a break that really builds anticipation and a lead that drives the energy,” shares KRESPO. “It’s a very special release for me because it represents a new sound I’ve been exploring, and I’m truly excited to share this new direction with Disco Dom.”

A meeting of two distinct yet complementary worlds, ‘The Apex (PRX006)’ channels nostalgia and forward-thinking production into a festival-ready anthem, a celebration of disco’s timeless spirit with the punch of modern club music.

Q: Please introduce yourself

Hi, I’m KRESPO, a Chilean artist currently based in Brazil. I recently released my track The Apex together with Dombresky and Disco Dom, which already reached the #1 spot on Beatport Nu Disco. Besides my work as a DJ and producer, I’m also the founder of Odd Frequency, a rapidly growing sample company that already has the support of major artists like Chris Lake.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

Right now, I’d love to have a coffee with John Frusciante from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I think he’s an incredibly talented musician, and I’d take the chance to ask him everything, from how he starts an idea to simple things about life. I’d love to understand his mindset and see how I can apply that to my own productions.

I also love watching interviews with producers and musicians to get a glimpse into their mindset, both in life and when it comes to creating music and John would definitely be one of my favorites.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

I’d love to be able to fly. The adrenaline and the feeling of freedom it must give it has to be incredible. Plus, it would save me a lot of money on plane tickets, hahaha.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

I think I’d love to do something in the style of Tron, like Daft Punk did. I’m a huge fan of that movie, especially because of the musical side of it. The atmosphere, the energy, and the way the soundtrack becomes part of the story really inspires me, and I think creating something in that style would be amazing.

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

Many artists have influenced me over the years. Phil Collins was one of the first, mainly because my parents loved his music. I’ve always been fascinated by the sound of his drums. I’m also a huge fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, especially Flea and John Frusciante, who have been a big musical inspiration for me. When I started producing music, I also found a lot of inspiration in artists like Fisher and Chris Lake. Lately, I’ve been feeling really inspired by the guys from PROSPA as well.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

I started at a very young age. At first, I actually didn’t like electronic music, but when I was 14 and Big Room was at its peak, I fell in love with it and started producing. By 2019, I really took production seriously, and after a lot of hard work and doubts, I feel I’m at a great point now. I’ve had the chance to perform all around Brazil, in Barcelona, and Ibiza, as well as at festivals like Creamfields in my country. On top of that, I’ve launched a new project called Odd Frequency, my sample company, which has already been used by artists like Chris Lake.

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?

I’d say my habit is to never stop producing. I think I’m a bit addicted, I can spend hours, days, or even weeks making a lot of bad music, but eventually, something good comes out of it, hahaha. I don’t know if it’s the usual approach, but I love producing like crazy. I think KSHMR said that once, and it stuck with me and it’s worked for me.

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

It was in 2023 when I was living in Barcelona. Out of nowhere, I received a message from one of the biggest clubs in Brazil. They covered my flight, hotel, fee, and food — and for me, all of this was completely new. The stage was incredible, with over 5,000 people, and the energy was insane. I don’t even have words to describe that day.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

My music has evolved a lot over the years. I started with Big Room, then moved to Future House, and later Future Bass. Since 2019, when I really took production seriously, it’s been mainly Tech House. I’ve experimented with more minimal sounds or more classic House, but right now I feel like I’m finally finding my own sound, a combination of Disco/Tech House and House.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

I think it would be something in the style of Gesaffelstein or Justice. I really enjoy that sound, a slightly lower tempo but still very aggressive. I’m a big fan of Gesaffelstein’s synths and basslines. I’m not closing the door on exploring this style in the future, maybe under a different alias.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

One of the first tracks that made me fall in love with electronic music was Unicorn Zombie Apocalypse by Borgore back in 2013. I also remember See You on the Other Side by Pyramid from the movie We Are Your Friends; hearing that track made me realize I wanted to be a DJ more than anything. Lastly, Losing It by Fisher, it might sound a bit cliché, but it’s the track that really introduced me to Tech House.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

I’d say Valle del Elqui, a magical place in the north of Chile. It’s surrounded by mountains, has some of the clearest skies in the world, and the energy there is just surreal. I think throwing a rave under the stars in that setting would be unforgettable.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

This year, I have a few tracks pending confirmation, and at the end of the year in December, I’ll be releasing a track on Moxy, one of my favorite labels. As for touring, I’ll be at ADE this year, and in November and December, I’ll be doing a tour across Brazil.

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

More than funny, I can share a few things: I’m a huge fan of anime, if you have any recommendations, let me know! I also play a lot of tennis; it’s one of my favorite sports. On top of that, I’m really into clothing, and I’m actually the founder of one of the most well-known gym brands in my country.
