Q: Please introduce yourself

Hi! I’m Lexlay, a DJ, producer, and founder of Happy Techno, promoter and label based in Barcelona. I've been involved in the electronic music scene for over 20 years, playing around the world and always trying to spread good vibes through music.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

Quincy Jones. His career, versatility, and ability to connect so many genres and artists over decades is just inspiring. I’d love to learn from his mindset and hear his stories first hand.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Teleportation, for sure! It would make touring way easier, and I could be home with my loved ones more often in between gigs.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

I’d love to do something like Drive or Blade Runner 2049. That kind of emotional, atmospheric vibe with strong visuals. It would be a great challenge to blend electronic textures into storytelling like that.

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

Early on, artists like Carl Cox and Fatboy Slim really opened my eyes to how powerful DJing can be. They weren’t just playing tracks, they were telling stories and creating moments.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

It started with pure passion and a lot of curiosity. I used to save money to buy vinyl and spend nights learning how to mix. That led to local gigs, then residencies, then launching my label, Happy Techno. I’ve worked hard, stayed consistent, and always followed my instincts.

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?

Be patient and focus on finding your own sound. Don’t rush to release everything. Build something meaningful and stay true to yourself, even if it takes time.

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

My first time at La Terrrazza in Barcelona stands out. The energy of the crowd, the open-air setting, and the connection with the people, it felt like everything aligned that night. Pure magic.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

I started with funky and groovy house, and over time it naturally evolved into a more refined blend of tech house, deep house, and techno with a Latin twist. I love experimenting while keeping my core vibe intact.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

Probably funk or soul. The groove, emotion, and musicality of those genres really speak to me. They’re timeless.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

– Daft Punk – Around the World. It blew my mind the first time I heard it.

– Laurent Garnier – The Man With the Red Face. So emotional and powerful.

– Lock ‘n’ Load – Blow Your Mind. Pure rave sound, great to close a set.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

Montserrat, near Barcelona. The energy of the mountains is unreal, and with the right sound system and sunset—it would be a dream setting for a proper open-air rave.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

After releasing my debut album 20 Years of Music, I’m working on some fresh EPs with a slightly deeper and more melodic vibe. Also planning big Happy Techno showcases in South America and Europe.

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

I studied marketing before becoming a full-time DJ. At the time, it felt like the "safe" option—but my heart was always on the dancefloor. In the end, both paths ended up helping each other.
