14 FAKTS INTERVIEW WITHluke garcia

Interviewed by GBS , February.03.2022

Q: How would you describe yourself in one word?

Honest.

Q: What was the driving force that got you into Music Production and when?

Mostly, the love for music that I felt since I was little. From the age of 8 or 10, I spent most of my free time after school listening to music. While my brother and many other kids my age played soccer, or playstation... I stayed listening to music of almost any genre. From there on I knew that music was going to be one of the pillars of my life.

Q: Analog or Digital? And why?

Always a big dilemma. 12 or 15 years ago when I started producing music, I would have told you analog, but in the last 3 or 4 years, digital has won me over. Even so, my studio is still full of analog synthesizers, drum machines, a drum set, an electric guitar and countless percussion instruments. Currently all my projects have a combination of both. I have very internalized work chains and protocols and I mix the 2.

Q: What's your favorite venue and why does it stand out from the rest?

I'm sure Pacha Ibiza. I was a resident from 2012 to 2014 and the energy that there is every night, the professionalism of the staff that works there and the club in general, seem to me something difficult to imitate by other clubs in the world. And Ibiza as a place in the world, for me it has always been very special. I have lived there for many years and I have thousands of anecdotes that I will never forget.

Q: If you were to have a superpower, what would it be and why?

I wish I had the power to turn bad people into good ones. I think that only with that we would solve many of the problems of the current world such as hunger (consequence of some countries always wanting to be richer and subjugating others), armed conflicts, many of them derived from money and power, even we would live in a much healthier way, in a less polluted world.

Q: If you had to play 1 more track at your favorite club, what track would it be and why?

I think it would definitely be ‘Ecro’. This track coming out on Renaissance Records has changed my life. From the first melodies, chords and percussion, until I took it to the dance floor and saw the reaction of the people. You know that happy face, of never wanting a track to end, that's how I see people enjoying it every time I've played it. I am happy.    Q: 1 person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

Frank Sinatra. For me one of the best voices in the history of music. I would ask him to give me a lesson in vocal harmony, although it is clear that his was a natural talent. It is unrepeatable.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score from the past, what movie would you choose and why?

I would have loved to do the soundtrack for The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I was fascinated by those movies, epic and fantastic stories in general. It inspires me a lot on a musical level. Although the soundtrack is already unique.

Q: Recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would fit a perfect rave?

There is an abandoned town on the outskirts of Madrid, in the Sierra de Guadarrama, in the middle of a valley, with a reservoir of crystal clear water, it has very few visitors and access is not easy... It would be perfect to do a rave there in the middle of nature. A whole weekend. The environment is magical, it seems that time has stopped ina 10km radius. Full of trees and narrow roads and with the valley as a dance floor. Would be a dream.

Q: What are 3 tracks that got you into electronic music?

Dj Rolando - The night of the Jaguar (Original Mix)

Nalin & Kane - Beachball (Original Club Mix)

Darren Tate vs Jono Grant - Let the Light Shine (Vocal Mix)

Q: Tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for this year.

This year is loaded with new music! Next release will be on Renaissance and at the end of the month a remix for one of the best labels in the world in the afro house genre, Madorasindahouse. Then in April, another track of mine will come out on Diynamic. Later we have a very special collab, Th3 Oth3r and I at Engrave LTD and in the summer one of my most special tracks will be released by my label: Ephemeral. In autumn I have a couple of projects already signed that I still can't reveal the label. I hope it will be a very pleasant surprise for everyone.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners don't know.

The ritual that I have before going out on my performances is worth telling. The first thing I do beforestarting my sets is to go around the club, disco or festival, among the people, see how the atmosphere is, the sound (although I have done a sound check before but it is not the same with the empty club than full), I observe a lot the type of public and how the party is from the customer's point of view. And just before I start I try to isolate myself in my world for a few minutes, not to talk to anyone. All this process makes me then have a very real analysis of where people are in the party and I try to give them everything they need to dance and have a great time.
