Following several years spent developing his house-led sound, MelyJones makes his Hottrax debut alongside LOVRA with ‘Feel So High’, with the pair landing on Jamie Jones’ label. The collaboration brings the Swiss talent together with the Berlin-based DJ, producer and HOUSECAT founder for the first time, whose own productions draw on the energy of ’90s club music alongside a contemporary house sensibility.
Q: Please introduce yourself
I’m MelyJones, a 27 year old Swiss DJ and producer. I’ve been making music since 2016, exploring different sounds within electronic music.
Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?
Franky Rizardo. I really admire his sound, his career, and the way he has built his own musical universe.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
The ability to stop time, so I could enjoy every special moment in life a little longer.
Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?
Interstellar. I love its atmosphere, emotional depth, and powerful soundtrack. It would be amazing to create music for a movie like that.
Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?
Mau P has really inspired me, especially because of his career journey and the way he successfully reinvented himself by switching musical styles.
Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?
I started producing music in 2016 and released my first tracks in 2020. Over the years, I explored different styles, received support from established artists, and kept developing my sound. Every experience has helped shape MelyJones into what it is today.
Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?
Be patient, stay consistent, and focus on developing your own sound. Don’t compare your journey to others.
Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?
One of my most unforgettable experiences was playing at my own event, MelyJones & Friends, at Twin Fin/Alaïa Bay in Switzerland. It was the first time I organised my own party, and it turned out to be a great success.
Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?
I started with more Bass House sounds, then explored Melodic Techno and Afro House. Today, my sound is much more focused on Tech House, with strong grooves and influences from the UK scene.
Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?
Melodic techno, because I love emotional music that creates a deep connection with the listener. I’m drawn to its atmospheres, melodies, and the way it can make people feel something special.
Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?
1- Martin Garrix - Scared To Be Lonely: for its energy and iconic melodies.
2- Eric Prydz – Call on Me: for its unforgettable groove.
3- Avicii – Levels: for its emotional impact and the way it brings people together.
Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?
The Swiss Alps in Wallis. Imagine a rave surrounded by huge mountains, with an incredible sunset and electronic music echoing through the landscape. It would be a unique experience.
Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?
I have exciting new music coming out, with a sound that represents the direction MelyJones is taking today. I’m also looking forward to new collaborations, bigger club shows, and taking my project to the next level.
Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?
I started producing music back in 2016, and I’ve experimented with several different electronic music styles before finding the sound I’m exploring today.
