14 FAKTS INTERVIEW WITHPAT LOK

27/01/2026

Vancouver’s Pat Lok and Berlin-based Megan Vice meet at the crossroads of R&B, House, and electronic club culture, yet both bring their own unmistakable voice. Pat Lok’s sleek, soulful productions and genre-fluid approach complement Vice’s bold fusion of electronic, hip-hop, and disco-pop, with her unapologetic lyrics and vibrant persona pushing the music into new territory on the ‘Spectrum’ EP.

Q: Please introduce yourself

Pat Lok, originally from Vancouver Canada now based in NYC. Internationally touring 12+years as a DJ/producer/live act with residencies in Chicago and Seoul. DJs from Bonobo to Carl Cox to Diplo play my records, some might consider me a 'disco' leaning artist but I think of my catalogue as more of a chameleon.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

Adria Arjona, why not?

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Mind reading would be useful as a DJ, but maybe also depressing if people wanted to hear Drake or T Swift.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

"In The Mood for Love" - any excuse to spend another 1000 hours with it.

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

Instead of who, it's what - BBC Radio One for dance music. All of their DJs from Annie Nightingale to Pete Tong, weekly shows with the best new music for a kid from a small city in Canada was entering a whole new world and the perfect place to learn.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

How long do you have? Short version: I was a local resident at a disco/blog house night when I began making music and signed to Kitsune (legendary French label co founded by one of Daft Punk's managers), released my first album and moved to Los Angeles and began touring. Did a lot of remixes and collabs, played in a lot of places.

It's hard to look backward as I spend most of my time looking forwards!

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?

1- Do it for the love always.

2 - Start making content yesterday (sadly).

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

Not technically DJ set but I saw KiNK live in NYC and it was one of the standout shows I have ever seen. He's obviously an incredible producer, but his energy, flow and crowd engagement combined with technical performance - unmatched.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

My ear has gravitated more towards groove and low end (theory? ha) where before I was very drawn to harmony and musicality. Creating multiple projects allows me to indulge my love for it all.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

I love classic rnb and the current 'west coast' modern jazz sound (Stones Throw etc).

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

1- Todd Terry - Keep on Jumpin (ft Martha Wash & Jocelyn Brown)

2- Sash! - Encore Une Fois

3- Planet Funk - Chase The Sun

I can't pick just 3 but these will do, I saw the Keep On Jumpin music video as a kid and it has played on loop ever since, classic NY in the 90s with two of the biggest voices known to mankind.

Encore Une Fois epitomizes my love of cheese 90s euro dance.

Planet Funk was such a cool hybrid live rock/house thing and it was the first song I remember BBC R1 playing on repeat.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

There's a not so famous lookout point in a big park in Vancouver where they used to do secret raves. It overlooks a massive bridge and the inlet (Pacific Ocean) and to catch a sunrise there with a couple hundred people and some dance music is pretty untouchable.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

The thing I'm most excited about is launching my secret new live project - expect something highly visual and memorable! Also for PL we have some surprises in store.

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

Once upon a time I cycled across Canada coast to coast, from Vancouver to St Johns Newfoundland.
