Q: Please introduce yourself
Hello Guys, this is Gabriele and Antonio, also known as Proudly People. We’ve been a duo since 2011. We created this project to craft a musical identity with passion and dedication.
Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?
There are so many people in the industry we'd love to have coffee with, as it's always a pleasure to exchange ideas and gain different perspectives about the business.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
For our job, there’s no doubt: teleportation! Can you imagine, after a long night and maybe a crazy afterparty, having a long trip back home?
Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?
Well, even though the score for this film was made by one of the best producers in the world and sounds like one of the best film scores we’ve ever heard, we'd love to work on something for “Interstellar”, because it’s one of our favorite films.
Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?
Good question! In the early stages of our career, many artists in the scene heavily influenced our ideas, inspiring us to create our own style. It's hard to name just a few, but we can say for sure that once we got a spot in London, we received invaluable advice from East End Dubs — an incredible artist and person.
Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?
Our journey started a long time ago, and one of the great things was that some people believed in us from day one. This motivated us a lot to push forward right from the start.
Q: Everyone goes through ups and downs, what’s one habit you adopt to push through the downs?
What always gives us the strength to face obstacles is our constant belief in ourselves and in what we do. That’s the key to success.
Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?
Yes, there are so many! One we recently enjoyed was at Classic Club last year, and you can find it on our SoundCloud page.
Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?
Music is constantly evolving, and to stay relevant in the market, you have to evolve with it. That’s one of the reasons we’ve transitioned from the minimal dub scene to something a bit more tech house—it's easier to play on bigger stages.
Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?
We’re big fans of hip-hop, especially old school. After long hours of production, we usually put on some good old-school hip-hop to relax our minds and cleanse our ears.
Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?
1) tINI - "That’s Right" (Original Mix). This track inspired us to dive into minimal sounds, and even now, it remains a timeless piece.
2) Livio & Roby - "Sunday Offend" (Original Mix). This track fueled our dreams— the mix between the bassline and synths is something extraordinary.
3) Larry Heard - "The Sun Can’t Compare" (Original Mix). This track creates a journey in our minds. It features atmospheric synths, a steady bassline, and soulful, repetitive vocals that create a captivating, immersive vibe, making it a timeless favorite in the genre.
Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?
We’ve been residents at Too Long in Milan since the 2013/2014 season, so we recommend coming over and partying with us there! You’ll definitely have a great time.
Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?
We recently released our tracks "Space" and "Rock Like This" with a great remix by Yaya on Bamboleo. We’re currently working on new tracks, and some exciting news will be announced soon. Here's a little scoop: we’re considering starting our own label sooner or later.
Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?
Well, in 13 years of our career, a lot has happened, especially when we’ve traveled with all our friends from Milan.
