Rey&Kjavik’s reworks such as Danit, Mogli, and Yuma have reached millions of streams worldwide, resonating far beyond genre borders and reinforcing his reputation for creating deeply atmospheric and emotionally charged versions that stand on their own.

From underground clubs like Watergate Berlin to sunsets and sunrises at Scorpios Mykonos, Burning Man, Fusion Festival, or the Biennale in Bukhara, Rey&Kjavik’s performances unfold as immersive sonic journeys — moments of elevation, release, and collective transcendence.

Here he blends organic textures with driving electronic momentum. Continuing his signature use of his own vocals, he delivers mantra-like phrases that steadily propel the track forward.

Q: Please introduce yourself

My name is Alexander Schomann, also known as Rey&Kjavik. I’m an electronic music artist from Offenbach, Germany.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

Probably someone I didn’t get enough time with. A conversation about how things were and how they are now would mean a lot.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

I’d go with time travel. I’d love to see cities like New York, London, or my hometown Frankfurt in their early days and experience how everything felt back then.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

I’d choose a film with a strong emotional or darker tone. I feel like that kind of atmosphere fits my sound the best and gives me the most space to create something meaningful.

Q: Who influenced you the most in your music career and why?

Simple answer: everyday life. If you take the time to step out of your daily routine and reflect, everything that happens around you can become a source of inspiration. That’s been the biggest influence for me.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

I think it’s similar to what I mentioned before. If you move through life with open eyes, you’ll start to notice the signs and opportunities around you. The key is to trust them, follow your instincts, and take the chance when it appears.

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?

Do your own thing and trust your instincts. No one knows better than you what your music should be. Find your sound, and believe in yourself and your work.

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

There have been many unforgettable moments over the years, but if we’re talking about recently, I’d definitely pick my concert in my hometown Frankfurt last summer at the Palmengarten. It’s a truly beautiful and unique place, a large botanical garden with plants from all over the world, surrounded by incredible landscapes and architecture.

They also have a concert area, and the atmosphere that evening was something special. The crowd, the setting, the whole vibe just came together in a unique way. If you’re ever in Frankfurt, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

I think it’s still evolving all the time, and that’s a good thing. Of course, it stays within the range of my sound that I’ve developed over the years, but there have always been changes, and there always will be.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

I don’t really think in genres. For me, it’s all about a feeling and following that instinct. Right now, I’m exactly where I want to be, but if that ever shifts, the music will reflect it and people will discover it naturally.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

When I was growing up, my hometown Frankfurt was one of the key cities for electronic music in Germany. You were surrounded by great clubs, record stores, and inspiring artists. Even the flyers were pieces of art that you’d collect. So for me, it wasn’t about specific tracks, it was the whole culture and atmosphere that pulled me in and got me excited about electronic music.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

It’s not about one specific place for me. It could be an old industrial building, a forest, or somewhere unexpected. What really matters is the atmosphere, when the location, the crowd, and the music align, that’s when something special happens.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

For me, this has always been an ongoing process. Right now, I’m road-testing a lot of new tracks in my live and hybrid sets. They might come together as an album in 2026, but maybe not. I like to stay open, because you never really know where the process will lead. That unpredictability keeps things exciting and fuels my drive to explore and create.

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

Fun for me is playing Football for example, I do this three times a week.
