Q: Please introduce yourself

Hi, I’m Salomé, a French DJ and producer based in Montréal. My sound is rooted in minimal house, and I’m deeply inspired by the healing power of music.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

I’d love to have a coffee with Rick Rubin. His perspective on creativity and the purity of expression is so inspiring. He sees music as a form of deep spiritual connection, and I relate to that a lot.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

I’d love to have the ability to communicate without words, like telepathy. There’s something so pure about being able to feel or understand someone without having to explain. I guess that’s what music already is for me: a way to speak directly to the soul, beyond language or logic. It’s how I connect, how I express what words often can’t.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

I’d love to score Inception. I’m fascinated by altered states and subconscious exploration, and Inception is a cinematic playground for those themes.

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

My influences have definitely evolved over time. In the beginning, I was deeply inspired by DJs like YokoO, whose long-form sets and storytelling opened my eyes to how music can guide you through a journey.

Bryz also left a big mark on me; his ability to stay true to his sound is something I deeply admire.

Then there’s Traumer, who constantly reinvents himself through different aliases while maintaining a strong signature. That level of versatility and curiosity keeps me inspired.

More recently, I’ve been really digging the sounds of Cirkel Square, Gudj, and Canavezzi; they each bring a unique texture and groove that feels both fresh and timeless.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

I started out simply as a music lover, obsessively collecting tracks and going to parties from a pretty young age. DJing came naturally through friends, and once I touched the decks, I was hooked. Production followed as a way to express something more personal. Over time, practices like meditation and sound healing deepened my relationship with music. They help me tune into sound in a more intuitive way, turning it into not just a creative outlet, but a form of connection and healing.

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?

Be curious and stay patient. Take your time to understand your sound and why you’re doing it.

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

One of the most unforgettable sets I’ve played was at Piknic Électronik. It was an outdoor afternoon set, which gave me the chance to explore a different vibe: more playful and subtle than the usual late-night club energy. What made it even more special was having my family there to see me perform. Sharing that moment with them, in such a beautiful setting, made it really meaningful.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

I’ve always been drawn to deep, hypnotic grooves, but over time my sound has become more refined and intentional. I’ve always had a taste for sophisticated music, and now I’m more tuned in to the subtle details that make a track timeless rather than trendy.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

That’s a tough one! Minimal is my home. But if I had to explore something else, it would probably be jazz or blues. I love the raw emotion, the improvisation, and the soul in both. There’s a kind of depth and authenticity there that really speaks to me.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

Stimming – Kleine Nachtmusik: In my early days, I would listen to Stimming a lot; his sound was a mix of deep house and tech house and truly shaped the music I make today.

Guti – Every Cow Has a Bird: This track is one of my all-time favorites, and I still play it from time to time. The blend of percussive drums and jazzy piano helped me see production as storytelling full of surprises and personality.

Nicolas Jaar – Encore: I’m a big fan of Nicolas Jaar in general; he was one of my early influences, but if I had to pick only one track it might be Encore. It revealed how soulful and simple electronic music can be, with space for emotional depth.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

I’d love to organize a rave on a sailboat in the Mediterranean. There’s something incredibly special about being surrounded just by close friends, the sea, and music. The intimacy of that setting creates a different kind of connection.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

Call me superstitious, but I don’t usually like to talk too much about things before they happen. I prefer to let the work speak when it’s ready.

That said, this year my focus is really on quality over quantity. I’m being intentional about the gigs I take, choosing only the ones that feel aligned with my sound and energy.

I’m also spending more time in the studio, developing my sound further and working on some exciting new projects. One of them is starting a label with my partner Wo0d, which feels like a natural next step to our podcast Inner Child Radio.

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

Most people don’t know this, but I’m really into motorcycles. It’s also something I share with my family. We each have our own bikes. A few years ago, just after I got my learner’s permit, we did a 28-day road trip from Los Angeles to Montreal along Route 66. It was wild, surreal, and totally unforgettable.
