Sabo and his record label Sol Selectas start 2024 with the fifth instalment of the imprint’s “Global Entry” compilation. The compilation is a little more up-tempo than the label’s usual output, as its concept is built around music that lifts people’s mood during the cold winter months, and it certainly delivers on that goal. On the release, there is music from some Sol Selectas favourites like German Brigante, and also a new KÖNI remix of a classic track by Sabo.Despite being upbeat than their usual style, it’s still very much in line with the label’s trademark style, which ranges from downtempo to Afro house. The majority of the tracks on this release are either deep house or Afro house, but there are also hints of deep tech, and some of the more uplifting tracks verge on melodic house/techno.There is a lot of music to try and individually breakdown in this review, as there are a total of 10 tracks, and a few of those are collaborations. In total, the release includes music contributions from KÖNI, Sabo, Matanza, Safar (FR), German Brigante, A X L, G.O.D.A., Memo Rex, Joe Pea, Djolée, Ayala (IT), RUSKAR, Atlantis, Anza, LITCHI, Gionist, and Sapoz.Rather than try to pick out individual highlights, it’s strongly recommended to take a listen to the full release, as all of the tracks are of an exceptional quality, and people will likely gravitate towards the style that best matches their tastes. It does feel like this compilation was put together with DJs in mind, but that shouldn’t put off people who are looking for long players or albums, as played as a complete release, it’s a great mood setting selection with a nice flow of energy.
