14 FAKTS INTERVIEW WITHWAHM

25/06/2026

WAHM - or Illusion in Arabic; created in reference to music’s effects on brain functions. The live electronic duo is composed of two multi-instrumentalists with a passion for blending different musical styles.

The duo consists of Hicham and Walid, who both have a background in metal and rock but have since transitioned to another genre. After discovering the world of electronic music, they decided to start their own project and formed WAHM in 2019.

They began experimenting with live electronic performances, using a variety of instruments and sound manipulation techniques to create unique and dynamic performances. Their music is a fusion of various genres, including electronic, rock, and metal. WAHM's performances are known for their high energy, intense build-ups, and intricate soundscapes. Their shows often feature singing and live instrumentals, including guitar, bass, and drums.

Q: Please introduce yourself

We’re Walid & Hicham, WAHM. We’re trying to make music that looks like us and hopefully hits people somewhere inside.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

Sacha Baron Cohen. We feel like we’d either have the deepest conversation of our lives or get pranked for two hours.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

To bring back organic growth. Algorithms are cool, but magic was cooler.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

If we could score a film, it would have to be a Tarantino movie, no question, no hesitation. There’s something almost criminal about the way he uses music, the way a song can walk into a scene and completely hijack your nervous system. That’s the energy we chase with WAHM. We’re not making background music, we’re making music that takes over a room, that shifts the mood before a single word is spoken. Tarantino gets that. His films don’t just have soundtracks, they have personalities.

Q: Who influenced you the most in your music career and why?

Guys like dOP. They brought the madness of a rock band into electronic stages and always lived outside the box.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

We started in rock bands, met again in Paris in 2018 and began jamming in the studio. Then our first big release landed on Diynamic during the first months of Covid and suddenly WAHM had a pulse. Solomun helped us put meaning into what we do.

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out their career in music?

Think about what music will sound like tomorrow, think about who you’ll be tomorrow, work for that… and don’t take yourself too seriously.

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

Saturday sunrise at Burning Man inside a Ukrainian art car called The Blue Bull. We literally cried during the set. That one is permanently written in WAHM history.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

It probably became more dancefloor-oriented while staying independent from genres, like us: imperfect, emotional, weird and somehow lovable.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

Psychedelic Rock.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

1- Agora - Scala.

2- Laurent Garnier -  The Man With The Red Face.

3- Kink - Hand Made.

Each of these tracks hit us differently, but they all had the same effect: they felt alive. They weren’t just songs, they felt like worlds with their own personality. They showed us that electronic music could be emotional, unpredictable and powerful enough to stay with you long after the music stops.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

The Agafay Desert near Marrakech. Raving between rocks and silence feels like partying on another planet.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

Some beautiful collaborations are coming with Mooglie, Paso Doble and Osfur, also some originals coming out on labels we love. We’re also building a summer tour and we seriously can’t wait to share it.

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

I think everyone already knows we spend most of our time arguing like an old couple.

WAHM, Mooglie - Feel My Fire [Anims]
