Over a period of seventeen years, Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels has evolved into a world-renowned institution, garnering global audiences thanks to a consistent schedule of quality releases.

Quintessential to the label’s success is the Spirits series, with each edition acting as a musical bastion to showcase the talents of both established and breakthrough artists alike. Now, after much anticipation, the world-renowned compilation will see the light of day once more in the form of Spirits IV, the fourth installment in Spirits’ ever-evolving saga.  Twelve tracks long, the compilation includes records from both prominent and rising artists alike, featuring appearances from Andrea Oliva, Pete Tong, Made By Pete, Francesca Lombardo, Matador and many others. Damian Lazarus discovers a new artist to create the artwork for each Spirits edition, this time inviting enigmatic NYC illustrator Josh Courlas to do so.

We had a chat with Francesca ahead of her Crosstown Rebels release. Here's what she had to say:

Q: Favorite Club/Venue and why does it stand out from the rest?

Fabric, have so many good memories there. The space and the sound in there are just two things that stickin your heart forever.

Q: Analog or Digital? And why?

Analogue mainly with a bit of digital at times. Analogue sounds way better and digital can complement it insome way.

Q: What was the driving force that got you into DJing/Producing and when?

The music I was hearing when going to a club or a rave.

Q: If you were to have a superpower, what would it be and why?

Launching Sicilian Arancini to people for free, I love arancini.

Q: If you had to play 1 more track at your favorite club, what track would it be and why?

Only You by Steve Monite. It makes me happy.

Q: What’s your biggest fear while performing?

No fears.

Q: 1 person you’d dream to have a coffee with?

David Lynch

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score from the past, what movie would you choose and why?

Once upon the time in America, it really touches my soul.

Q: Recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would fit a perfect rave?

Isola dei conigli

Q: 3 Tracks that got you into electronic music

Robert Miles - Children

Solvent - My radio

Jeff Mills - the bells

Q: Tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for this year.

I have a new track out on Crosstown “Freak on Sea”, and more music I am working on which should be out this year. I also have a collaboration with Purple Disco Machine and one with Uner out later this year and a couple of remixes.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners don’t know.

I love to eat chestnuts while I drink Coca Cola
